Spent the day in Coffs Harbour today, it was smaller than we thought. There is a huge shopping centre in Park Beach, and because of that we thought the whole town is bigger.
We went in to visit the famous Big Banana. It was about as interesting as the big guitar at Tamworth, but we got the obligatory photo of all east coast travelers. We headed to a mini dutch village that gave a demonstration of clog making. They had pairs of all sizes that you could try on and wear around. They are more comfortable than you would think. Kai got into the spirit and was wearing them around for all to see. We all found the demo really interesting.
After lunch we went down to the boambee beach to take the kids on a camel ride. The kids were all excited, until it was actually time to get on the animals. Both Ethan and Sasha got stagefright, but were fine when on properly. The guide gave some interesting facts about camels and their origins over the half hour trip. On the return trip of the camels, we were walked through the waves at the beach. Kai asked if we were going to get wet, but i let him know that for us to get wet the guide would definately be under water!
Once we got back to our car, we saw that there was a catamaran out at sea whale watching. We saw a whale spash and we clearly saw its tail. Ethan believes he saw the whole thing!
We had a bbq for tea and kids worked on their journals and homework.
Heading towards Kempsey/Port Maquarie tomorrow.
BTW, the reason that Kai has his name at the end of his posts, is because he likes to type it himself on the computer.
It wasn't smaller than we thought, it's just that we didn't find the actual town until we were leaving. We must have driven around it a couple of times. The township that we thought was Coffs Harbour was actually Park Beach.
