Day 9 was our 1st rest day since we left home. Everyone was in need of the quiet day and we really didn't do much. The children spent some time at the playground and riding their bikes in the morning, by lunch time the clouds came rolling in and we decided to set up the annex for the first time and lucky we did as we had about 4 hours of heavy rain and another 2 hours of showers. Justin and I we both grateful for the fantastic sunny weather we had the last 3 days while we were at the theme parks. The afternoon was filled with board games, journal writing, reading in bed and nanna naps and that was all the rain would allow.
Justin and I are huddled around a radio tonight trying to listen to the Geelong V Hawthorne game on the radio. The only station we can pick up is on is 774 ABC Melbourne and after the signal travels 1300 odd Kms the quality is quite poor. If anyone is interested in the NRL scores we have 20+ options to listen to them.
A little added bonus to our 'unique' listening situations is the airplanes. We were surprised how cheap the parks in Tweed Heads South were in relation to those a little further North. We have now discovered in the style of "The Castle" we are in direct line with the runway of the Coolangatta Airport about 2ks away. It is fairly quiet during the day with very few planes but first thing in the morning from about 6-10AM and again around the same time in the evening we have jumbo jets flying low over us at regular intervals. The first day we were here the noise was thunderous for about 30 seconds per plane - while that are just as loud and frequent we are beginning not to hear them so much.
Tomorrow we are going to check out the City of Tweed Heads and have a look at the Surf beaches.
Well we had a little trouble trying to get the game too, as we drove through the hills of Scotland!! But I listened to it through a stream from Triple M on the AFL website on the laptop! And what a great win too!!!! GO CATS!!!!
