Heading for New South Wales
Today was the last day of the Queensland school term and we began our trek south in an effort to avoid peak rates and too many people. Our aim was to get back into New South Wales, which we did only to find the north coast of New South Wales as far south as Coffs Harbour consider Queensland Holidays peak rates. We hardly saw Ethan and Kai this morning as they were busy playing football with a boy whose family moved into the campground last night. We haven't seen many children and families in our travels yet, mainly older people and the boys were very pleased to find someone who knew what AFL was
. After leaving Maroochydore, we stopped for a cold beverage at the Ettamogah Pub, the children really enjoyed themselves here, though the history of the pub was lost on them. We stopped at White Water World on the way passed for a quick swim and the children when a only a few rides - the lines were huge, much bigger than last week. Kai spent the entire time on the same water slide at Wiggle bay as last week. We left about 3:30pm and was heading towards Ballina with the hope of getting there around 5. Roadworks, 2 breakdowns and an accident meant we had to settle for Hastings Point. The locals tell us you can see whales from the point at this time of year so we will give that a go tomorrow.
